February Snow...
Mood:  cool
Topic: Deeeep Winter Snows

Well, we sure have enough snow laying around here now, eh?Smile Toured out for a little observation and ran into all this...

So, slowly sinking into the soft white depths, I worked my way closer to this Cool Observatory, a pretty old Ottawa landmark, seeking a more, in-depth shot, of this historic structure. Yup, it brightened up my winter day to think how many people must have been here before me, observing this same neat old building...

What great artistry, eh? Cool

Before I go, here's a link to one of my little friendly websites over at Geocities, where Anyone, and I Do mean, Anyone, can build a FREE website and it's real easy too.

So Check it out and maybe you'll want to get started on your own little piece of the Internet pie too. Ya never know! Smile

Tackle & Stuff...

A close up look at a Creek Chub, Pikie Minnow in the six inch version.

Here is an old Wilson's Snipe made by A.L&W back in the fifties.

 Some sweet, collectible Fishing patches...

More wild food...

Here are some large fresh acorns that will be turned into flour when I get them home.

This little patch of Blueberries was almost like finding hen's teeth for me, when I came across them. Blueberries just don't grow around here. Well, unless you have the perfect growing conditions for them and some very acidic soil. :-) Chances of me telling where this patch lives are pretty slim because of their rarity around these parts. ;-)

November stroll...
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: a stroll...

a still life picture...

I felt very calmed while taking this shot. It was a very relaxing scene and my brain mellowed as my shutter fired...

a Morning Dove lets me get close...

What a lovely bird this is. It's subdued colors enable it to blend in with many backgrounds and makes it a little tricky to spot  in the fallen November leaves. Well, until you get the correct angle and balance of light, that is. Cool Then, with a little luck, you end up with a pic like this...

...a patch of Wild Wintergreen

These cooler days are helping to produce a bumper crop of these lovely little wintergreen berries. This was one of the first wild trail foods I ever ate, many, many years ago...

and towering above the Wintergreen...

Look up, look way, way up! Wink

this ancient Pine tree has been nourishing the earth below it where the Wintergreen tribe lives, for over a century and could tell many stories, if only trees could talk. Smile

an old pond and it's stories...

Notice the little rim of ice, already starting to form  along the left shoreline here. Brrrr! Chilly out to-day...

o.k. then, one more...

the November woods as I viewed it on my stroll to-day...

Hang loose. Cool

Fall fishing, or not...
Mood:  cool
Topic: Empty lakes...

This totally deserted launch ramp, just downstream of the Highway #7 bridge in the backgound here, testifies to the lonliness of the lakes in this area at this time of the year. Like, Nobody is out there fishing right now.

In the past, when I used to own cars, I fished a lot of the local lakes in the fall, and often combined a Partridge hunt with a few hours worth of casting from some deserted shoreline. Caught some nice protein and had great sport for my efforts. So, my advice here to You, is to fish on purpose in the fall. It's Big fish time as well so put away the UL stuff and drag out the Hog Handler set-up! Smile

Anyone reading this blog ever launched from here before?

Some personal gear...
Mood:  bright
Topic: A little EDC...

So this is a picture of one of my EDC set-ups. That's what we call Every Day Carry's, or things that we have with us everyday, everywhere we go, all the time. Cool

In this case, it's a Key-ring clip gizmo, that holds my keyring securely to my wide, solid leather belt, where they stay and then can be unhooked in a split second, for use.

The name of this slick gadget is Lucky and it's subtitled, Secure-A-Key which describes this neat unit perfectly. Lucky is made of grade A Stainless Steel and will never tarnish or rust on you. I've had mine for over ten years now and I don't know how I managed to get along without it before that. Laughing

This picture shows what is currently attached to my Keyring, but the components have been known to change, often.  I like testin' stuff out, eh?  Cool

Anyone out there ever used this great piece of equipement on their belt?

If you'd like to learn a little more about EDC's or show off, Your EDC gear, then here's a hyper-link to THE Hottest place on the web for Every Day Carry (EDC) information, including a kool Forum too, so You can interact with other folks, if you want. Smile   E.D.C.Forums

I will be adding a few more Outdoorsy gear type pictures in here, to go along with the above flavored one, soon. I Do have and use a lot of Cool gear and You just may be interested in getting into some of it Yourself, after seeing some of my pics in here. Ya never know, ya know? Laughing
